All-rounders decide 30 to 40 percent of any T20 fantasy total. Here is how we split the role across the 100-credit salary cap on CricBaba, when to lock the 9 Cr anchor, and when to gamble on the 7 Cr differential in IPL 2026.

If we ask the operator of any T20 fantasy side which one slot swings the leaderboard the most, the answer is almost always the same: the all-rounder. A frontline batter scores in one phase, a frontline bowler in another, but a true all-rounder compounds points across batting, bowling and fielding inside the same innings. On the CricBaba app, the points table rewards a fifty-plus-three-wicket game with around 220 fantasy points before multipliers, which is double what a pure batter or a pure bowler delivers in the same match.
That double-stack is why the all-rounder tier is the most argued position in any IPL 2026 fantasy prep chat. You can build a balanced XI with three frontline bowlers, three frontline batters, a wicketkeeper and a frontline batter-captain, and still lose to a team that spent the same salary cap more cleverly on the all-rounder band. The role is where 100-credit math meets role-rotation risk, and getting the tier wrong is the single biggest reason first-timers rank in the bottom half of CricBaba mega contests.
We bucket every IPL 2026 all-rounder on a CricBaba draft into three tiers based on salary, role certainty, and ownership. Once you name the tiers, the rest of the salary cap is just arithmetic.
If you build a CricBaba team with one anchor plus one differential plus, optionally, one overseas-raree, you will land in the 96-100 credit range with 2 to 5 Cr of flex left for a fourth seamer or a backup keeper. Anyone who tries to run two anchors and a differential usually has to drop a frontline bowler, and that trade-off loses more often than it wins on the app.
The CricBaba salary cap is 100 credits. The four buckets we work with are: 1 wicketkeeper, 3 to 4 frontline batters, 3 to 4 frontline bowlers, and 2 to 3 all-rounders. Adding a fourth batter or a fourth bowler means subtracting an all-rounder, which is where most first-timers go wrong.
A balanced 11 looks like this on the app:
Total: 11 players, 95 to 102 Cr. If you are at the 105 Cr mark after locks, you are over-stacked in one tier and under-stacked in another. Captaincy is a 2x multiplier on CricBaba, and the temptation is to slap it on the most expensive all-rounder in your XI. Resist that instinct on slow pitches, in day games, and against teams that bat deep. The anchor all-rounder should only wear the (C) when the match-up clearly favours all-round performance: high-scoring venue, small ground dimensions, dew likely in the second innings, or a batting order that consistently gives the all-rounder 30-plus balls.
For IPL 2026 we are watching three specific scenarios on CricBaba:
In every other scenario, the captaincy should sit on a top-order batter or, in differential spots, on the differential all-rounder himself. Your anchor's job is to score 180 to 220 reliable points at 1x; captaincy gambling on the anchor is what blows ranks in mega contests.
The differential tier is where the rank spread happens. Two CricBaba teams with the same anchor and the same overseas-raree can sit 50,000 ranks apart based purely on which differential all-rounder each picked. We use three filters to find them on the app.
Filter one: depth-chart promotion. Look for first-XI batters who have been quietly moved up the order in their last three innings. On CricBaba you can check the batting position column under each player's stats - if the median is rising, that is the differential you want. A 6.5 Cr player batting at number four is worth more than an 8.5 Cr anchor who slides to number seven.
Filter two: bowling role clarity. The differential must bowl. A batter-only differential is just a cheaper batter, and the CricBaba cap does not reward a cheaper batter when you already carry three top-order anchors. Look for differential all-rounders with confirmed two-to-four-over quotas. If the coach has used them in the powerplay or at the death in the last four matches, lock them in.
Filter three: ownership ceiling. Open the CricBaba ownership projection tab (or any leaderboard view that shows team selection percentages). Anything above 55 percent ownership in mega contests is not a differential. Anything below 25 percent is either a non-starter or a trap. The sweet spot for a differential captain is 30 to 45 percent ownership with a high points ceiling.
Every IPL franchise carries four overseas players. On CricBaba that translates to a four-credit swing in your XI that you cannot waste. Most first-timers burn three of the four slots on batters and bowlers, leaving the fourth slot for an all-rounder - which is exactly the right call when the overseas-raree tier is available.
The overseas all-rounder trap on the app looks like this: you pick three frontline overseas bowlers (someone like Starc, someone like Rashid, someone like Hazlewood), then settle for a domestic differential all-rounder because the foreign slot is full. We see this in roughly 60 percent of losing CricBaba grand-league entries. The fix is to run only two frontline overseas bowlers, slot the third overseas slot as an all-rounder, and reserve the fourth for either an explosive overseas opener or a backup all-rounder.
For IPL 2026 we are tracking which overseas all-rounders come into the auction at 9 to 10 Cr - typically the 24 to 28-year-old seam-bowling all-rounders from West Indies, Sri Lanka and New Zealand. When one of them lands at the right price tier on CricBaba, that is usually the differential captain slot.
The (VC) is 1.5x on CricBaba. The reflex is to put the (VC) on the second-best player, but the smarter play is to put it on the role you do not captain from. If your (C) is an anchor all-rounder, your (VC) should be a top-order batter - not the differential all-rounder. If your (C) is a top-order batter, the (VC) should sit on the anchor all-rounder.
Differential all-rounders should rarely wear the (VC) on CricBaba. They are high-variance: 80 percent of the time they deliver 90 to 130 points, but 20 percent of the time they sit on 30 to 50 points. A 1.5x multiplier on a 40-point differential floor tanks your rank, while a 1.5x multiplier on a 150-point anchor floor protects it. The CricBaba app shows projected points per player before lock; we use that projection to set captaincy, not gut feel.
IPL 2026 late-swap on CricBaba closes roughly 30 minutes before the first ball. That window is when playing-XI confirmation lands, and that is the moment to revisit your all-rounder tier choices, not the moment to panic-redraft your batting order.
The rule we follow: if the anchor all-rounder is dropped from the announced XI, swap to the next-best anchor (same tier) and rebuild the rest of the 11 around the new salary. If the differential all-rounder is dropped, replace with the same-tier differential - do not upgrade to an anchor just because one is now cheaper. If the overseas-raree is dropped, free up the overseas slot for a frontline overseas bowler you had on the bench. Never break tier boundaries in the late swap; that is how first-timers lose two-rank-step advantage they had built over the week.
